About me
Ana Gil Garcia, a professor emerita and a six-time Fulbright scholar, is an advocate for women, children, and immigrant rights. Born in Venezuela, she has lived in the United States for almost 40 years. She earned her graduate degrees at universities in the United States. Her community work, human rights advocacy, and efforts to expand educational opportunities for minority populations have been recognized by multiple organizations in and outside the United States. As the founder of the Illinois Venezuelan Alliance in 2016, Dr. Gil Garcia has tirelessly worked to engage civically, support humanely, and educate proactively the thousands of Venezuelan immigrants who have recently arrived in the United States.
